THE PROBLEM
Destiny Hotel's existing website was a static brochure with phone-only booking. Guests couldn't check room availability online, leading to booking friction and lost reservations during peak seasons. Management couldn't update content without developer help.
UX RESEARCH & STRATEGY
Analyzed hotel booking patterns — most guests research rooms on mobile before calling. Key insight: guests want instant availability confirmation, clear room photos, and transparent pricing. Designed a React booking widget that loads in under 2 seconds.
DECISION LOG
WordPress for the management team to update rooms, photos, and pricing themselves. React embedded as a SPA widget for the booking engine — this hybrid approach was chosen over a full React rebuild to leverage existing WordPress content while delivering app-like booking UX.
ARCHITECTURE
WordPress CMS with custom post types for rooms, amenities, and offers. React booking widget communicating via AJAX/JSON with a PHP API layer. MySQL database for room inventory and booking records with real-time availability calculation.
UI EXECUTION
