THE PROBLEM
MFSI Chemicals needed a digital portal to showcase their product catalog and streamline dealer inquiries. Manual phone-based order processing was slow and error-prone, with no automated notification system for order status updates.
UX RESEARCH & STRATEGY
Interviewed chemical dealers and distributors to understand their ordering workflow. Dealers needed quick product lookup by category and CAS number. Automated SMS notifications for order confirmation and shipment tracking were identified as critical features.
DECISION LOG
MongoDB chosen over MySQL for the product catalog — chemical products have highly variable attributes (concentration, packaging, grade) that fit a document model better. Twilio SMS API for automated dealer notifications. Laravel for rapid PHP development.
ARCHITECTURE
Laravel PHP backend with MongoDB for the product database. Bootstrap frontend for responsive dealer access. Twilio integration for transactional SMS. Custom enquiry form routing orders to regional sales teams based on dealer location.
