THE PROBLEM
Schools managed admissions, fees, attendance, and exams through disconnected systems or paper registers. Parents had no real-time visibility into their child's academic progress. Teachers spent hours on manual report card generation.
UX RESEARCH & STRATEGY
Conducted research in 12 schools across 3 cities. Mapped user journeys for 4 personas: Administrator, Teacher, Parent, Student. Each had distinct needs — admins needed bulk operations, teachers needed quick attendance marking, parents needed push notifications.
DECISION LOG
Role-based architecture with separate portals for each persona. Flutter for the parent/teacher mobile app, React for the admin web dashboard. Laravel backend chosen for its robust authentication, role management, and queue system for report generation.
ARCHITECTURE
Multi-tenant Laravel backend with school-specific databases. React admin portal for school management. Flutter mobile app for teachers (attendance, grade entry) and parents (fee payment, progress tracking). MySQL with read replicas for reporting.
UI EXECUTION
Teacher interface optimized for speed — attendance can be marked for an entire class in under 30 seconds using a grid layout. Parent app features a timeline feed showing attendance, grades, fee status, and announcements. Report cards auto-generate in PDF.
BUSINESS IMPACT
Reduced report card generation time from 2 weeks to 2 hours per semester. Fee collection improved by 25% through automated reminders and online payment. Parent satisfaction scores increased significantly with real-time progress visibility.
